Modeling

If you are confident in your look and you fit the type, modeling can be the rewarding career you have always dreamed about. Start modeling today!

Modeling may not be the easiest career to get started in. You can’t just be gorgeous and expect modeling to be easy. Being a successful model takes dedication, hard work and you have to fit the type. You find that a lot of modeling agencies have certain requirements that you must meet before they will start working with you as a model. Even if you consider yourself to be plus sized model material, you still have to fall into that type.

Any agency that you choose to work with will have general guidelines. Women will need to be at a height of about 5’9” to 6’ and with a waist size of at least 6, figure specs will be 34B-24-34 and be ages 14 to 21 years of age. Men that are looking to break into the field of modeling will be expected to be 6’ with just maybe a couple of inches more or less and also should be over the age of 18. Petite models just simply do not exist and if an agency says they work with petite models they may be running a scam operation. Petite models are lower rung models and may only be in the modeling market because of a former claim to fame or an agent has taken them in with being a special interest and can take much influence to push that type of model to front stage.

People also get confused on the definitions for a plus sized model. Much like a regular model they are expected to fit the sizes. They can be 5’8” to 6’ in height and their waistline can differ with the specifications of being between size 8 to size 12 and have to be over the age of 18. It can be even harder to get into plus size modeling than it is regular modeling because the type and fit matter.

If you have gotten this far and have decided that you have the fit and type; this may be the point that you want to look at going to modeling school. This will show any agency that you are serious about your career. Take a look at many different modeling schools as the tuition can vary and be pretty expensive, find a school that will fit you. It also would be helpful at this step to network and talk to others that have been former students of the schools you are considering and weigh your options carefully. Look for reasonable pricing and a school that has knowledgeable staff and a good reputation with programs will help place you with an agent once you have graduated.

As you look at schools, consider the type of modeling you want to go into and what will fit best for you.
